Redesign Eletric Ladyland

Jimi Hendrix is probably one of my favorite musicians of all time, so when we were tasked with the recreation of an album or music poster in my typography class, I obviously had to redesign Electric Ladyland - my favorite Hendrix album. The exercise consisted of redesigning the album using mainly typography.

With this in mind, I conducted extensive research into blues, the 70s, psychedelic music, and Hendrix himself. I discovered a curious fact - he hated the original cover for Electric Ladyland, the one with the photo, not the later orange version of the deluxe edition. He also did not like orange; his favorite color was purple.

The final result takes inspiration from and respects the deluxe edition's orange cover, which was much more in the style of Hendrix. My idea was to improve it by incorporating some groovy type from the 70s and using the original cover as the vinyl dust cover. This way, the album feels much more like Hendrix.
